Sketch Dailies: Caipora

Sketch Dailies challenge: Caipora- A Brazilian mythological guy with a long mane of black hair, who smokes cigars and rides pigs and protects the forest.

I definitely phoned in the background.... >.<

Dilly-o's.

Hey guys. A bit of a warm-up that went on for far too long- drawing some armadillos. They were harder than I thought.

Lots of down-time at work- trying to get some portfolio stuff done. When I do, it'll go here, too!

Satyrs and Fauns?

Some more doodles from my wind-down drawing time last night. I didn't have a ton of time/energy this time.

A sassy Faun and little Satyr. I went and did some investigating into the differences, and it turns outt hat Satrys were originally stocky little woodfolk with the ears and tail of a donkey. I love stocky folk (dwaaarvvvvvessss) so naturally I had to go that route this time. Also, they're both typically male but ladies are so much more fun to draw with all them chest and pit hairs.

These drawings were so quick and sloppy- and the poses are stiff because of it. I'd like to explore that faun character a little more another time and get something better out of it.

Anyways, here's a happy warrior lady on Valentine's Day....

And a lovable skunk.

Hunks

Doodled some hunks tonight before bed!

Started out generic but then I drew some characters.

Not entirely sure why my strict B&W images are going grey and brown here, but I'll figure it out later.

Downtime Doodles

I got some very usual down time today since our servers at work borked and there's only so much I can do without access to the client/artist forum. So in between odd jobs and the occasional client e-mail check via phone, I did some quick doodles.

I don't get to doodle much lately because my full-time job (assistant Art Director at a game development company). I've also been working freelance as the head designer for an interactive children's book, which is tons of fun but lots of work too.

Free Time? What is Free time?

More Brush Pen practice

I do little doodles to warm up before cracking down on work. Lately I've been inking them with my brush pens for practice. Here's a recent page.

Inking Practice

I got some fancy-pants brush pens for a job and I needed to practice with them. The first time I ever used a brush pen I hated it. It felt totally out of control and clunky. I hadn't touch one since then until now! AND THESE ARE SO AMAZING!

But boy howdy do I need practice!

Here are some inking practice bits I did.

Doodles

I'm working one a couple of projects with NDAs, so for now here are some doodles: A cat and robot sketch and a piece of a WIP personal project I work on as a warm-up piece.

Pigs, Hedgehogs, and more.

I've been insanely busy but here are some miscellaneous warm-ups I've done.

Robots and Puppies, Oh My!

Hey guys. I'm hoping to finish off the first, very rough draft of my Children's book this weekend, nd show it to some people and try not to feel like the worst artist ever.

Meanwhile, here are some random pages from my sketchbook this week.

Robots

Here's me playing around with layout in isometric view, and then getting distracted
by a frogbug and then some of the students in the class I'm tutoring in.

Here's a weird old man with a pipe, two worried ghosts and two doggies.

 Here is a... vase.. home?

Back to working on my book! I'll post the full draft sometime this weekend.

A Bunch of Things!

Apparently I hit my photo storage limit, and figuring hat out and replacing the big files turned out to be a chore. But now I know how to avoid that again, and here are some sketches and things.

First... SPACE JAM! (and dancing turnip)

Some concept doodles for branding/choosing a mascot.

Tom is trying to get into voice acting, so I doodled some characters for him to make voices for. I would really like to take them into Flash and animate them a little for each patch of dialogue.

Here are a few doodles I did while tutoring for Quicksketch during one of the lectures.

More to come later!

Sketches

Hey guys, still in preliminary planning stages on a lot of projects. Totally botched a painting last night (My fault, got too fancy too fast). Here are some recent sketches.

BADGERS

And here are a couple of final sketches as I work out a painting for my grandparents.

AHHHH FINALS have some sketches

Hey guys, winding into finals. I'm finally going to learn how to properly export my Flash animations so I can show you things! Meanwhile, here are some things I've been working on instead of sleeping.

Some monster concepts for a Children's book:

Some sketches for an instructor to use in her powerpoint explaining the difference between "The right to bear arms" and "the right to bare arms" (and "The right to BEAR ARMS!?!?!?")

I want to finish those soon.

And, finally, some miscellaneous doodles from various warm-ups and brainstorm sessions.

Busty Girl Comic

I've got a series of things in the works right now, but they're all moving pretty slowly so it's likely the things I'll be posting for a bit will mostly fall into  the warm-ups and doodles section of things. I've been reading through, and relating to, Busty Girl Comics and made one of my own.

Thanks for visiting!

Doodles

I've been taking it fairly easy the past few days- getting a few personal projects started, doodling, taking care of housework and catching up with old friends.

I have been asking for suggestions of what to draw on Facebook for my cool-downs.

Here are some of them from last night.

Drink and Draw Doodles

We played drawing telephone and discussed plans for a zine book at the last drink and draw. But I got some random doodles in as a warm-up while we sorted ourselves out and ordered our big kid beverages, food, etc.

One of my pals was trying to sort out character designs for a giant cavewoman. Out of curiosity, I messed around with some shapes too to see what I could come up with. Here's my rendition (I'm sure hers will be much more exciting)...

Here are some miscellaneous doodles. I filled a few pages but a lot of it was crap or thumbnailing for other things. The girl is a character from a "Sword in the Stone" adaptation I'm working on. The left side of her face was burned badly as a child.

Then there's a dragon head and a guy with a rad moustache.

And finally, my greatest creation of all time- Mrs. Weenie.

That's it for now! Got a painting and a large tonal drawing to scan and post later this week, and hopefully some more storyboards. School is kicking me right in the butt-place! I can't wait to have an extra few hours to go to the figure painting class in a couple of weeks (quitting one of my 3 jobs).

*thumbs up*

(I found the secret to getting more traffic and it's to do more "Game of Thrones" fan art. So expect some of that come the end of this term. I'm talking to you, 13 people who found my blog searching for that term in Google this morning.)

Hey I'm still alive

Working my butt off with 3 project classes this term, y'all. here are some random sketchbook things:

Bear studies for a bearskin coat:

Naked lady I used for a tutoring demo. This actually took more like 2 minutes.

Random doodle I sketched during a lecture to keep my brain focused.

More later! Time for lunch and work!!

Freestyle Warm-ups

A design warm-up; space ships based loosely on 1950's "futuristic" feelings.

And some warm-up doodles.

Oh man. I have internet again. Also, working on portfolio, and re-doing an Aftereffects project from last year. Trying to land myself an internship in the next 6 months.
